Shows that count for points are: UPHA Spring Premiere, Greater Boston Charity, Connecticut Morgan, Summer Kickoff, New England Morgan Regional, Summer Classic, Massachusetts Morgan and Octoberfest.

  A horse/equitation rider must compete in at least two (2) of the listed horse shows to be considered for year end points (any discipline/division).

2023 Massachusetts Morgan Horse Association Year End Points

RULES AND RESTRICTIONS

 

  1. To Qualify, must be a current member of the Mass Morgan Horse Association
    1. Horse’s owner must be a member
    2. Equitation riders must be a member
    3. Leadline entries, either the horse’s owner or the Leadline rider must be a member
  2. Member’s points will begin to count after a membership has been started or renewed prior to the 1ST OF THE IMMEDIATE NEXT MONTH(For example, if the membership begins or is renewed on June 10, 2022, points will start to count beginning July 1, 2022)
  3. Maiden, Novice and Limit Horse or Rider classes do not count towards points.
  4. Opportunity classes will count towards the “Open” division of appropriate discipline.
  5. If a member is leasing a horse through USEF or AMHA, they must submit paperwork to the point secretary to show proof of lease to be considered for points.
  6. If a horse changes ownership during the show season, points will continue to be counted only if the new owner is a current member of MMHA.
  7. A running tally of points will be available to the membership throughout the show season.  A date by which changes can be made will be published that allows the membership to dispute any point totals.  After that date, all published points are final.

 

Shows that count for points are: UPHA Spring Premiere, Greater Boston Charity, Connecticut Morgan, Summer Kickoff, Seacoast, New England Morgan Regional, Connecticut Summer Classic, Massachusetts Morgan and Octoberfest.  A horse/equitation rider must compete in at least two (2) of the listed horse shows to be considered for year end points (any discipline/division).

 

Points are as follows:

Qualifying classes:1st-8 points, 2nd-7 points, 3rd-6 points, 4th-5 points, 5th-4 points, 6th-3 points, 7th-2 points, 8th-1 point

Championship classes: 1st-12 points, 2nd-11 points, 3rd-10 points, 4th-9 points, 5th-8 points, 6th-7 points, 7th-6 points, 8th-5 points

 

High point awards and Sweepstakes classes will not count toward Year End Awards, for example: Weanling and Yearling competitions, High Point Carriage or Dressage

 

-Mass Morgan classes ALL count DOUBLE-

Divisions are considered as follows:

Open: includes Open, Youth, Gentleman’s; does not include Maiden, Novice or Limit Horse/Rider

Amateur:  Amateur, Masters, Amateur Ladies

Junior Exhibitor: includes all ages 17 and under; does not include Maiden, Novice or Limit Rider

Ladies: Ladies

Walk Trot/Jog: broken down by discipline (Saddle Seat (includes Classic), Hunt Seat, Western)

Carriage Driving: Open, Non-Open, Dressage Training Levels, Dressage Preliminary Level

 

NOTES AND DISCLOSURES:

  • Some divisions warrant combining the Amateur and Junior Exhibitor classes for year end points due to lower entries within that division.(Example: Park Saddle, Park Harness).Should we find that there are multiple entries that warrant us to split into Amateur and Junior Exhibitor, we will (Example: Hunter, Western).

     

  • Please note that some disciplines do not warrant different divisions given number of entries or the design of a show’s class list.For example, Road Hack, Roadster and Trail will be counted as one division no matter the status or age of the rider/driver.
